You might have implants, crowns, or a bridge to protect, or gums that need care more than twice a year. At Vivid Specialized Dentistry, we plan each Edmonton dental cleaning around your restorations and gum health.
What happens at a specialized cleaning visit?
A specialized dental cleaning is a detailed hygiene visit for patients with restorations, implants, or gum concerns, focused on long-term health and stability. Each visit includes:
- Plaque and tartar removal: We use a Cavitron ultrasonic scaler and tools suited to your restorations.
- Restoration and gum checks: We examine each implant, crown and bridge and the gum around it.
- A home-care plan: You leave with daily cleaning steps and a recommended date to return.
How often should you book a cleaning?
Most patients need a cleaning every six months. Implants, gum concerns, or extensive restorative work may call for one every three to four months. If you've had gum disease, consistent periodontal maintenance helps keep it from progressing.
Visits that keep your warranty active
Our warranty covers crowns and bridges for five years and dentures for one year when you keep up with regular check-ups and maintenance visits.
Routine implant maintenance for healthy gum and bone
Dental implants can't get cavities, but the tissue around them can become inflamed, so they need professional cleanings and home care. At each visit, we clean around your implant crowns, bridges, or implant-supported dentures and monitor that tissue for early inflammation.
Peri-implantitis is inflammation that can wear away the bone holding an implant. If it develops, our periodontists treat it.
Costs and coverage for more frequent cleanings
Specialized cleaning costs depend on how often you visit and how many restorations we maintain. Many plans cover cleanings up to their limits, and we work with Sun Life Financial, Canada Life, Alberta Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada, and the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
If we recommend more visits than your plan covers, you'll get a written estimate first. You can pay the balance with 0% financing for up to 24 months or smaller monthly payments through Beautifi.

Frequently asked questions
We don't list one price, because the length of your visit and the number of implants, crowns, or bridges we clean set your cost. Your insurance plan may cover part of it. For the balance, you can use 0% financing for up to 24 months or a longer plan through Beautifi.
It's a good fit if you have implants, crowns, bridges, veneers or dentures, or a history of gum disease. These call for closer gum monitoring and tools suited to your dental work. If you're not sure, we'll assess your gums and restorations at your first visit and recommend a schedule.
Most patients feel fine soon after, though gums that were inflamed can feel tender for a day or two while they heal. Let us know if a spot feels sensitive while we work. You can also ask for a blanket, an eye mask, or headphones with Netflix or Spotify during your cleaning.
Brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush, then clean around each implant with floss, interdental brushes, or a water flosser, depending on your restoration. Bridges and implant-supported dentures may need dedicated tools to reach underneath. At each visit to our Edmonton office, we check what's working and adjust your routine.
Yes, you don't have to be an existing patient to book an Edmonton dental cleaning with us. Many patients come for specialist-level monitoring of their implants, crowns, or gums. Call (780) 421-4441 to schedule, and if you can, bring a list of your restorations and when you had each one done.
