For many patients, losing a front tooth can affect far more than their appearance—it impacts confidence, daily function, and the willingness to smile openly. Mike’s case is a perfect example of how modern prosthodontics can restore not just teeth, but comfort and self-confidence.

A Long Journey to a Confident Smile

Mike’s story began years ago after a series of dental injuries in his youth. After orthodontics, jaw surgery, and eventually the removal of a damaged front tooth, he spent over two years wearing a temporary tooth inside a clear retainer. It worked for day-to-day life, but like many patients, he felt self-conscious and was eager for a permanent solution.

"There's a lot of confidence that comes from having a good looking smile versus not having it."

Using a Temporary Tooth During Healing

Before final treatment, Mike relied on a clear retainer with a built-in temporary tooth—an option we use often when an implant site is healing. It maintains the appearance of a full smile, but it’s only meant as a short-term step before the final restoration. Once the implant fully integrated, we were able to move forward with the real transformation.

Two Front Teeth, Two Different Solutions

Mike required two restorations side by side:

  • One implant crown to replace the missing tooth

  • One traditional crown placed on a prepped natural tooth next to it

This combination allowed us to rebuild both front teeth in a way that looked seamless, balanced, and naturally symmetrical—one of the biggest challenges in front-tooth dentistry.

Matching Shape, Color, and Proportion

Front teeth require precision. Small differences in shade or contour can be noticeable, especially under natural light. Our team carefully customized both restorations to match each other and blend with the surrounding teeth. As Mike said when he saw them for the first time:

“Yeah, they really nailed the color this time.”

A Powerful Before-and-After Moment

After living with a removable retainer tooth for so long, finally seeing two permanent, natural-looking front teeth made an immediate impact. Mike shared how much confidence comes from having a smile you’re proud to show:

“There’s a lot of confidence that comes from having a good, a good looking smile versus not having it.”

Trusting the Process

His journey is a reminder that with the right planning, an implant crown and a traditional crown can work together beautifully—even in the most visible part of the smile.

I have been going to Dr Sumar for many years. He and his staff are truly professional, extremely knowledgeable and very kind. Dr Sumar has done extensive work on myself and my family and we could not be happier with the results. I will not let anyone else touch my teeth. I highly recommend Vivid for all your dental needs.
